During the 2022–2023 academic year, the ST2 research group of the Department of Physics at the Politecnico di Milano participated in an orientation course aimed at students in the final years of upper secondary education who were interested in preparing for the Online Admission Test (TOL) for engineering degree programmes. This paper focuses specifically on the Physics module, which was delivered using innovative teaching methodologies. The proposed activities included an introductory session, a preparatory test, and a laboratory workshop conducted through an open-ended approach. An extensive statistical analysis confirmed the effectiveness of the adopted methodology, revealing a significant improvement in students’ TOL performance when comparing results obtained before and after participation in the course.
