Abstract

Renzo Piano took part in the debate developed between the 70s and the 80s around the theme of the historic city and played his part by organising the experience of the Neighbourhood Workshop in the historic centre of Otranto in 1979. In this experiment, the figure of the inhabitant is the presupposition, but also the protagonist with greater cognition, of a series of participatory reuse actions aimed at redefining the role of the citizen in his city and in issues related to the built heritage.
