In this paper we present preliminary research findings from the Italian project Teenagers Experience Empowerment by Numbers (TEEN), funded by the Politecnico di Milano, which aims at developing an app for teen-immigrants who need to learn basic mathematics to cope with European lifestyle. The notion of “empowerment” is explored and an episode is presented and analysed.
