A control technique for the vibration suppression of flexible structures based on modal approach and named Dependent Modal Space Control (DMSC) is presented in this paper. The Independent Modal Space Control (IMSC) allows to independently impose frequency and damping of the controlled modes. The DMSC can also impose the controlled mode shapes through full control gain matrices. Two different approaches can be followed for the method implementation. In the first one, the controlled mode shapes are directly imposed, e.g. increasing or reducing the modal component in different points of the smart structure; the second one instead, by using a suitable minimization algorithm, returns the optimal modal shapes minimizing a desired Input-Output performance index.

Abstract
A control technique for the vibration suppression of flexible structures based on modal approach and named Dependent Modal Space Control (DMSC) is presented in this paper. The Independent Modal Space Control (IMSC) allows to independently impose frequency and damping of the controlled modes. The DMSC can also impose the controlled mode shapes through full control gain matrices. Two different approaches can be followed for the method implementation. In the first one, the controlled mode shapes are directly imposed, e.g. increasing or reducing the modal component in different points of the smart structure; the second one instead, by using a suitable minimization algorithm, returns the optimal modal shapes minimizing a desired Input-Output performance index.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
