Abstract

Nowadays, the increasing availability of powerful calculation tools makes it possible the numerical solution of very complex electromagnetic problems: nevertheless, the analytical methods present interesting advantages, both during the design and for the operation analysis of the electromechanical components. In the paper, an analytical method is presented for the evaluation of the air-gap flux density distribution in the electrical machines: this approach, particularly devoted to the analysis of slotted, salient pole synchronous machines, allows to take accurately into account the stator winding distribution, the air-gap anisotropy and the slotting field effects.
