Design/methodology/approach: Sixteen exploratory case studies of leading Italian fashion companies were used to raise the predominant structure of the outbound supply chain for fashion companies Findings: The paper provides a list of the five main structure of the outbound supply chain, by tailoring them according to their applicability depending on country and firm features Originality/value: The structure of the outbound supply chain has been studied in the literature, but a comprehensive analysis of the main existing archetypes is missing. Moreover, the categorization of each of them according to country features, by simultaneously considering both emerging and emerged countries, is a new area of investigation.
