The electrophotocatalytic degradation of organic model compounds (azo dyes DG 26 and RR 243) using nanotubular TiO2 was studied. Catalyst was grown by anodic oxidation directly on Ti surface. TiO2/Ti was used in a laboratory scale reactor (~2 L) as a photo-anode under UV artificial irradiation and it was subjected to bias. Some operational parameters were studied and the process was optimized. Benchmark tests with P-25 Degussa TiO2 were conducted. Elevate removal yields were obtained without adding chemical reagents and good catalyst durability was demonstrated.
