Evolving living practices and behaviours, families composition, neighborhood and cities social structure, imply new ways of using domestic spaces, which urge a rethinking of the design of domestic spaces from a spatial, tecnological and programmatical point of view. Through the anlysis of some emblematic case studies, the essay reflect upon recent living practices based on sharing of spaces and services, participation of citizens in the design process, and flexible interior layouts aimed at providing more space to inhabitants.
