This work presents an optimal reconfiguration policy for high-power fiber laser sources, enabling the user to change, over time, the overall power of the source, or equivalently the number of its optical modules. The user’s choice is based on the evolution of the technological specifications of the products to be realized and of the product demand. A closed-form for this optimal policy in the simplest settings is presented and then discussed with regard to a realistic numerical case study.

Abstract

This work presents an optimal reconfiguration policy for high-power fiber laser sources, enabling the user to change, over time, the overall power of the source, or equivalently the number of its optical modules. The user’s choice is based on the evolution of the technological specifications of the products to be realized and of the product demand. A closed-form for this optimal policy in the simplest settings is presented and then discussed with regard to a realistic numerical case study.
