An all-optical converter which translates binary time-coded words of a 1550 nm communication signal into equivalent space-coded ones has been realized in free-propagation. The conversion is performed by means of optical gates realized using CdTe:In crystals. The device constitutes an input stage for free-space optical signal processing. Architecture, components and experimental results are reported.

Abstract
An all-optical converter which translates binary time-coded words of a 1550 nm communication signal into equivalent space-coded ones has been realized in free-propagation. The conversion is performed by means of optical gates realized using CdTe:In crystals. The device constitutes an input stage for free-space optical signal processing. Architecture, components and experimental results are reported.File in questo prodotto:
