A new integrated infrastructure to improve comfort and safety at home: the ‘casa amica e sicura’ experience

For a growing segment of the population with chronic illness and physical disabilities, home care is becoming an important demand. Aim of this work is to present the development of highly technological healthcare services. These will allow, where proper cultural and organizational conditions are created, to fulfill the needs of assistance and safety of people. At the same time the existing healthcare services would be improved, increasing their efficiency and reducing their costs. The areas of interest are mainly the early hospital dismissal, the functional recovery and domiciliary rehabilitation for chronic illnesses, motor limitations and permanent or temporary disabilities, the services for elderly and disable people, the psychological support and assistance.
