Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) can now be considered as an established method for the evaluation of the oil flow within gearboxes. In any case, as for all numerical models, CFD results should be accompanied with experimental activities aimed at assessing the solution correctness. Hence, specific test rigs should be designed and employed for such verification, which should be performed both qualitatively (i.e. with photos) and quantitatively (i.e. with local measurements). Here, it is discussed the modification that has been performed on a back-to-back geared test rig in order to perform such kind of experimental activities on the simple case of a two spur gear train. The rationale behind the design choices of the proposed rig construction comes from the actual state-of-the-art, which is discussed in detail. The proposed test rig works both with splash and jet lubrication.

Abstract
The proposed test rig works both with splash and jet lubrication.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
