The aim of this session would be to collaboratively discuss and collect feedback on the scientific progress on the NEU R OCLIMA Horizon project related to behavioural change assumptions, tools, and approaches utilised in two large scale case studies. This project aims at establishing a novel solution for supporting and sustaining systemic transformations and behavioural change towards climate resilience by creating a nervous system that meaningf ully connects policymakers, public institutions and citizens, based on AI-enhanced decision-making support. This nervous system is explainable, trustworthy as well as reactive and proactive to citizens’ concerns, environmental changes, and policymakers’ new proposals, creating a bidirectional relationship between citizens and public institutions. To achieve this, the project partners engage in rigorous research towards proposing monitoring mechanisms in the directions of the EU Adaptation Strategy and the Mission on Adaptation to Climate Change. These mechanisms monitor needs, pain points, expectations and dispositions, as well as emerging trends and relevant themes that may directly or indirectly affect EU societies and help identify social and leverage tipping points. To facilitate the desired change, listening to citizens’ expression, concerns and pain points but also to the reasons why policies have been developed, the project introduces an engagement and assessment framework and associated toolkits, taking into account local and national specificities. Through the proposed approach, a fertile dialogue among stakeholders will be enabled, helping them shape and assess new decisions while also fostering trust and understanding towards rule-of-law institutions.
