The fashion sector significantly contributes to environmental degrada- tion, particularly through excessive water and resource consumption, which has a detrimental impact on the environment. It generates approximately 20 million tons of waste annually, accounting for around 10% of global greenhouse gas emissions. Considering this, the circular economy concept plays a crucial role in promoting the reduction, recycling, and recovery of materials for waste minimization and encour- ages sustainable practices. This chapter explores the circular economy for sustainable fashion materials, emphasizing strategies to prioritize durability, biodegradability, and recyclability while extending the lifecycles of materials through design for circu- larity, reuse, repair, and upcycling. However, the integration of digital technologies in the fashion industry can enhance circularity. With the help of technologies like artificial intelligence, blockchain, collaborative robots, the Internet of Things, and digital product passports, this industry can utilize waste and minimize the use of virgin raw materials. The role of advanced digital technologies is also discussed to provide a pathway for achieving circularity. Moreover, this chapter examines the prevailing challenges facing the fashion industry and highlights the best practices and initiatives adopted by leading brands to implement circular practices success- fully. These perspectives provide a comprehensive view of the transformation in the fashion industry through circular principles and technologies, offering a path toward a regenerative and sustainable future.
