The chapter presents the results developed within the ECODeCK project, focusing on the theoretical frameworks that serve as the foundation of its capacity building model. It introduces the Sustainable Transition Comp (ST Comp), a competence framework designed specifically for sustainability training and capacity building in the manufacturing sector, adapted from the Green Comp framework originally developed by the European Joint Research Center. Additionally, the chapter explores the Design for Sustainability (DfS) framework, which maps how design can drive sustainability within the manufacturing sector. Building on these foundations, the chapter presents the ECODeCK capacity building model, a design-based educational model rooted in the principle of Transformative Learning. Its object is to empower individuals within organizations with the necessary skills, behaviours and mindset to navigate the uncertainties of the sustainable transition and lead their organizations toward meaningful change.
