Descrizione: The integration of Artificial Intelligence into the field of Conservation and Restoration represents both an opportunity and a challenge. This study explores the potential and limitations of AI-driven tools in the analysis, classification, and management of Built Heritage, with a focus on the role of deep learning, Convolutional Neural Networks, and Large Language Models with vision capabilities. The research outlines a methodological approach to assessing AI’s ability to recognize pathologies, interpret materials, and structure intervention strategies. Rather than testing current AI-models, the study emphasizes the need for a specialized, well-trained AI system tailored to the complexities of architectural conservation. The discussion extends beyond technical applications to address the theoretical and ethical implications of integrating AI into the decision-making process.
