Social Condensers in the Island of Uljanik: PoliMi Students’ Visions for Pula, Croatia, Part 2

This two-part report presents the outcomes of the 2024 Architectural Design Studio at Politecnico di Milano. The studio invited international students to engage with the island of Uljanik in Pula, Croatia, and develop a "vertical social condenser" for the port city. Part 1 focuses on the research and design process: site visits, local engagement, workshops, and preliminary urban analysis that informed the students’ vision for Uljanik’s future. Part 2 presents the resulting student projects and highlights their diverse strategies to foster the city’s productive heritage toward a forward-thinking, sustainable future.
