The so-called Naviglietto of Cusago (not far from the city of Milano) is an important but neglected waterway built in the fifteenth century as part of a larger and more ambitious Visconti project to strengthen the network of navigable canals of the Duchy of Milan. Historical research has allowed us to identify the canal and the position of its equipment. The Naviglietto, the alzaia (towpath), the remains of two conche (canal locks) and three sostre (or sciostre, storage areas) are still recoverable, but they are threatened by new infrastructure in the area, close to the industrial outskirts of Milan.
Dimenticato, recuperabile (ancora per poco). Sul margine della periferia industriale di Milano: il quattrocentesco Naviglietto di Cusago.

Abstract
The so-called Naviglietto of Cusago (not far from the city of Milano) is an important but neglected waterway built in the fifteenth century as part of a larger and more ambitious Visconti project to strengthen the network of navigable canals of the Duchy of Milan. Historical research has allowed us to identify the canal and the position of its equipment. The Naviglietto, the alzaia (towpath), the remains of two conche (canal locks) and three sostre (or sciostre, storage areas) are still recoverable, but they are threatened by new infrastructure in the area, close to the industrial outskirts of Milan.File in questo prodotto:
