This project aims to develop a master plan for the Osthafen area, a commercial river port currently in activity located on the eastern edge of the German city of Frankfurt am Main. The city has historically been characterised by a strong commercial-oriented vocation: over the years, it has become a European financial centre and is still an important port for goods thanks to the presence of the Main River, a valuable resource that has always accompanied the city in its evolution. These forecasts are based on the desire to decommission the port by 2050, discontinuing its commercial activities and converting the large space available. The masterplan includes a percentage of different residential types and a portion of services dedicated to the community and residents of the area, which are currently almost non-existent. To mark the start of the planned intervention, an imposing tower building has been designed, housing a residential section and an accommodation section. The latter has been placed at the tip of the peninsula between the artificial canals of the port and the natural course of the river, where the two bridges from the north and south banks of the Main converge. The location mirrors that of several projects dating back to the early decades of the 20th century, which involved the construction of a lighthouse.
