The small church of San Romerio, which dates back at least to the 11th century, is located in Switzerland less than 10 km from the Italian border. It is an unicum in the Alpine context as the building is owned by an Italian Public body, the municipality of Tirano, but is located in Swiss territory, the Graubünden Canton. This is due to the complex historical events that have their roots in the oppositions between the Duchy of Milan and the Three Grey Leagues and in parralel between the Bishop of Como and Chur. This intrinsic situation has influenced the events of the church up to the present day, generating a dispute that for decades has limited the possibility of operating for the conservation of the building. The path of analysis of the building that began to be outlined in 2011 has allowed the current conservation needs of the church to be finally highlighted. In this way, it was possible to drive the local actors to skip the previous field of contraposition, in terms of ownership and management duties, into a frame of collaboration aimed at outlining the conservation needs and calorization potential of the church. The proper use of the funds that EU dedicates to cross-border policies ("Interreg") makes it possible. also through the establishment of an Italian-Swiss foundation, to generate a shared and fertile field from which suitable conservation and valorization strategies were planned.

Abstract
The proper use of the funds that EU dedicates to cross-border policies ("Interreg") makes it possible. also through the establishment of an Italian-Swiss foundation, to generate a shared and fertile field from which suitable conservation and valorization strategies were planned.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
