Abstract

The central role that the human operator assumed in the industrial design and development processes, driven by Industry 5.0 principles, has paved the way for the creation of new human-centric system architectures. This paper discusses the practical implications concerning the deployment of a Human Digital Twin-based system in the manufacturing environment. It provides a proof-of-concept of the architecture for the implementation of the twinning process, starting from the investigation of the most suitable hardware selection based on the desired outcomes to build up the human monitoring phase. We analyze three management decision-making levels to determine the scalability of the proposed architecture for strategical, technical, and operational managerial strategies. This research aims to propose some technology selection criteria, based on the main characteristics of the available technological capturing devices, to determine the sensors most akin for the creation of the physical twinning monitoring process.
