This contribution is part of a series of three articles published by the same Authors on the theme of retrofit of buildings by means of steel braces equipped with hysteretic dampers (Structural 237 – settembre/ottobre 2021 – paper 25 – ISSN 2282-3794 e Structural 240 – marzo/aprile 2022 – paper 09 – ISSN 2282-3794). In particular, this contribution aims to present the software AIDApp, developed by the same Authors and available on the website https://aidapp.it/. This tool has been designed with the goal of assisting practitioners in the dimensioning of the dissipative bracing systems for the seismic retrofit of framed structures. In particular, a detailed explanation of the functioning of AIDApp will be provided; then, the design of the retrofit of two residential buildings is performed by means of AIDApp and assessed through non-linear analyses.
