Abstract
The studio of Ondřej Císler and Nicolò Chierichetti was dealing with the theme of Museum, based on the idea of Memory of Municipio 6: Barona, Lorenteggio. The task was to add to the whole of all projects of the Museum of Districts of Corpi Santi involved within the framework of the City district Memory MIAW international workshop. Municipio 6 is a district that was originally defined by agriculture, later by industry. It has a large hospital facility, a few original centers with churches and preserved buildings, and a great extent of housing development from the last century. It is still undergoing a gradual development, including large residential projects. There is a natural center of activity adjacent to the center of Milan, containing the MUDEC museum, Superstudio, Armani Silos, Archivio Gio Ponti, and other cultural institutions and hip areas, which are very trendy these days and are constituting a very attractive part of Milan. The main urban axis of this part is still the Naviglio Grande, an old canal, used originally to supply Milan with goods, including the stones for the cathedral. The role of Memory in the perception of Architecture is crucial. This idea in contemporary architecture begins with the quotation of Adolf Loos saying that “grave is the architectural element closest to art” and develops in the sense of duality of Instrumental vs. Monumental (from Latin monumentum ndr). This relation represents the most important polarity that constitutes architecture, and expresses in space. An instrument, a reflection of our thoughts and memory. Sometimes, it is a monument and, in some cases, an instrument of thinking. Instrument of Monumentality and Monument of Instrumentality. This enables our students to concentrate on the quality of their architecture and its relation to memory. Students choose two locations close to Naviglio — Ripa di Porta Ticinese 41 and the site of old farmhouse Cascina Campagnola.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
