At an international level, the need emerges to verify outcomes of the new innovative schools in terms of building performanceand effectiveness in favoring the teaching change. The P. Mattarella lower secondary school in Modena was opened in 2016, with an organizational model based on disciplinary classrooms proposed by a group of teachers, which required a participatory review of the design under development. This paper presents an evaluation activity carried out by a multidisciplinary group with the involvement of the school community to develop learning processes in the design field and provide feedback on the current experience. The results show a particularly advanced and constantly evolving situation. Indeed, the quality of the physical environment looks like an essential component for the innovation of educational project, thanks also to the ability to care, enhance, search for new solutions and resources of both the school manager and staff.
