The ongoing Covid emergency has highlighted some criticism in the Italian healthcare system, evident in the differences in access to care and in the difficulty of managing hospitals, overloaded by the number of patients: it is necessary to propose alternative models to overcome these problems. The enhancement of outpatient clinics can contribute to a process of de-hospitalization of the system, making the infrastructure more sustainable, inclusive, democratic and widespread and adding value in a new normalcy. The paper proposes a new approach for a vision of a decentralized and distributed healthcare, based on blockchain technology; it explores the potential of a new ambulatory format, where 3D printing and digital technologies contribute to the delivery of more targeted services; it shows a device designed following the hypothetical guidelines of an ambulatory, to describe its operational model. Abstract

It seeks to highlight what the role of design might be in unstable contexts.
