Il vuoto che unisce. Passerella di Tintagel, Cornovaglia

The Tintagel footbridge restores after hundreds of years the connection between the historic castle and the mainland, introducing in the middle a suspended gap with a twofold purpose. From a physical point of view, it constitutes the missing keystone of the arch, conceived as a set of two independent cantilevered structures. From a metaphorical point of view, it represents the transition between present and past, history and legend. The integration with the landscape, the lightness of the system, the elegance of the design and the sequence of the construction process make the footbridge an expression of the contemporary language, although not lacking material, technical and symbolic references to the past.
