From the comparison between the Unesco (2012) and the European Landscape Convention (2000) notion and approaches on landscape, and the academic literature, the paper will deepen the role ICTs and digitization can play for the enhancement of non-outstanding landscapes. At national and international level, several examples of top-down and bottom-up initiatives, with also a focus on landscape educational projects, are presented to analyze the opportunities, the limits and the possible further directions offered by these technologies.

Abstract
