The aim of this article is to analyze long-term care (LTC) policies in a specific regional context: the case of Lombardy region. Firstly the transformations of the care demand as well as the more general articulation of the regional welfare system will be considered. Then the main structural features of the LTC regional policies and their main trends over the last years will be investigated, especially considering residential care services and home care services. Finally the main impacts of the LTC policies and the main issues affecting the regional context will be discussed focusing on the relationship between extensiveness/intensity of the care networks, the tensions between the health and the social sector and the question concerning territorial inequalities.
