Globalization has created a new normal that affected all aspects of our daily lives. Under the circumstances of this phenomenon, fashion design education is in a great need for adaptation to the shifting paradigm. The traditional approach is not equipped to deal with the new requirements for fashion design curriculum, emerging pedagogies, such as didactic laboratory has been highlighted recently in many design research activities. However, the relevant literature is still limited regard the discipline of fashion design. Therefore, in this paper, we would like to discuss the developing design practice within the didactic laboratory approach of teaching and learning by illustrating a didactic laboratory practice example in fashion design education. We hope that this study could provide a basis for reflection and critical discussions for the future works.
