The present contribution seeks to reconstruct, through written sources and visual documents, the appearance of the chapel in the country residence of the Duke of Portland, at Bulstrode House, Buckinghamshire, which was decorated by Sebastiano Ricci in 1713-14, and destroyed around 1860. The original setting of the religious space is depicted in various small-scale paintings, which are today in different museums and private collections. This study examines them in detail, with particular attention to the Baptism of Christ in the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
