This contribution explores the waterfront theme taking Alexandria as a case study, considering recent redevelopment projects while outlining the long history of multi-waterfront schemes. Many literary sources are mobilised, in order to grasp the unique theatrical nature of the Alexandria’s multiple waterfronts as an identity feature, lying in the close relationship between the urban/port layout and its geographical setting.
