The present work deals with the development of an innovative geo-localization and diagnostic system, to be installed on board of freight wagons, powered by energy harvesting systems, and able to communicate the relevant data to a ground control center. The scope of the work is to have a real time monitoring of the wagons and to optimize their maintenance scheduling increasing the availability and the safety of freight trains.

Abstract
