Aim of this contribution are the calculation of the statistical parameters, i.e. mean value (¯x) and standard deviation (σx) and of the quantization noise associated to a non-homogeneous calibration table of a TCD implemented in FPGA, and the investigation of their relative dependence. The calibration table consists of a number of bins which have size distributed according to a specific probability density p(x). First, we found the quantization noise of the calibration table as a function of its bin values; after that, we obtained the relationship between quantization noise and mean value and standard deviation of the probability density p(x). The theoretical results are validated by means of experimental measures with a TDC implemented in a FPGA device Xilinx Virtex-5.

Abstract
Aim of this contribution are the calculation of the statistical parameters, i.e. mean value (¯x) and standard deviation (σx) and of the quantization noise associated to a non-homogeneous calibration table of a TCD implemented in FPGA, and the investigation of their relative dependence. The calibration table consists of a number of bins which have size distributed according to a specific probability density p(x). First, we found the quantization noise of the calibration table as a function of its bin values; after that, we obtained the relationship between quantization noise and mean value and standard deviation of the probability density p(x). The theoretical results are validated by means of experimental measures with a TDC implemented in a FPGA device Xilinx Virtex-5.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
