Bramantino’s architecture, whether real or painted, constitutes a true and proper historiographic brainteaser that has raised many questions which neither traditional methods nor more innovative ones have been able to answer so far. These unanswered questions, fuelled by the uniqueness and experimen-tation that were typical of the artist’s work, continue to draw the interest of the critics in spite of the subject’s unquestionable difficulty.
