Most of available contributions by practitioners and by academics on modularization lack a comprehensive foundation for its operative management along the overall project life cycle. This study aims at clarifying the potential of modularisation through the identification and the understanding of its impact items, barriers, enablers, and their links with the typical mechanisms of a modular approach. The analysis of these items, in a decision-making-driven Ontology, enables to identify the most proper decisions in two different scenarios: the need to achieve a specific impact and the identification of achievable impacts considering the contingent conditions of the firm.

Abstract
Most of available contributions by practitioners and by academics on modularization lack a comprehensive foundation for its operative management along the overall project life cycle. This study aims at clarifying the potential of modularisation through the identification and the understanding of its impact items, barriers, enablers, and their links with the typical mechanisms of a modular approach. The analysis of these items, in a decision-making-driven Ontology, enables to identify the most proper decisions in two different scenarios: the need to achieve a specific impact and the identification of achievable impacts considering the contingent conditions of the firm.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
