Abstract

The demand for "risk assessment and management" in all its forms has increased, especially quantitatively and qualitatively, making clear the need for new approaches to enable the entire sector to ensure best results starting from university courses taking care of all these aspects up to integrated multidisciplinary approaches activated in case of complex problems as those mentioned in core activity of cluster S2D2. It is well known and demonstrated that the interdisciplinary approach and a culture of "safety & security" are the basis in order to obtain good results in this area. The broad spectrum of themes covered originates from the awareness that in many cases the issues to be addressed involve more than one matter considered by the cluster as a consequence in order to do not offer a fragmented and limited support, which can only partially fulfil the needs of the counterparty we have opted for a holistic approach. The issues mentioned in the title of the cluster potentially involve most of the skills and expertise available at Politecnico; the various departments of engineering, architecture, urban planning, and environment up to industrial design. The overall activity may be subdivided in different branches among which are primarily: research, consulting, partnership, and last but not less relevant education and training both institutional and lifelong. S2D2 want to enable cooperation both nationally and internationally. Institutions, organizations and companies both public and private are potential partners in the initiative. A set of selected observatories will complete the panorama of the planned activities. The strength of the holistic approach Institutions, organizations and companies both public and private are potential partners in the initiative. An interdisciplinary approach: the quest for "security" in all its forms has increased, especially quantitatively and qualitatively, making clear the need for new approaches to enable the entire sector to ensure best results starting right from training University Association oriented care of all these aspects of reaching out to multidisciplinary integrated approaches in the solution of complex problems which show today those mentioned in the subject of cluster S2D2. It is known and proven that the interdisciplinary approach and a culture of "safety" are the basis of good results in this area.
