The research community is responsible, institutionally, for creating new knowledge. The transformation of that new knowledge into the production of goods and services is delegata to the business world. Innovation (absolutely necessary to maintain an industrialized country like Italy to appropriate levels of economic development) is the result of the transformation of new knowledge in the above processes, into products and services offered in the market successfully. So the innovation requires a coordinated effort of research and entrepreneurial activity.
