Asaresult,weshowthatthe field intheweakcoupledatomictransitioncanbeusedasatool to controltheatom-field dynamicsoftheother(strongcoupled)transition,thusrealizinganeffective two-levelquantumRabimodelwithacontrollable field. Inparticular,aperiodictemporaldynamicsof the atom-field statecanberealizedbyappropriatetuningoftheweakcontrol field, evenfornon-de- generateatomiclevels.AphotonicsimulatorofthemixedRabiJaynes–Cummings model,basedonlight transport inevanescentlycoupledopticalwaveguidelattices,isalsobriefly discussed.
