Abstract
A formal definition of thermodynamic active system is fairly new and therefore requires a few introductory remarks. Historically Carnot(1) was the first to evaluate the maximum ideal work that can be extracted from two heat reservoirs at different temperatures, that is in mutual disequilibrium. Later Gibbs(2) introduces explicitly the concept of maximum obtainable work as the measure, expressed in Joules, of the distance from equilibrium of a system composed of two parts one at T, P, the other at T0, P0.File in questo prodotto:
