In thiswork,theweldingofopen-cellCu60Zn40 [wt%] foamsusinga1kWcontinuous-wave fibre laser wasinvestigated.Duringweldingtestsperformedinthebead-on-plateconfiguration, adeteriora- tion ofthecellularstructurewasobserved,withpoorevidenceforthejoiningofsurfaces.Incontrast, tests performedinthelap-jointconfiguration resultedinsuccessfulweldingusinga1-mm-thickplateof the samematerialasthefoams.Theeffectoftheprocessspeedonthegeometricalcharacteristicsofthe transversesectionofthejointswasstudied,andtheheat-affectedzonewasevaluatedviaahardness test. Finally,acompositionalanalysisoftheweldbeadwasperformedusingascanningelectron microscope coupledwithanenergydispersivespectrometer.
