The purpose of the research is to become familiar with diverse craft, traditional architecture and countryside of Puglia. The selected area is characterized by the trulli building typology; the Unesco-listed stone habitats are limestone dwellings employing drywall construction, a prehistoric technique still in use in this part of Italy. The research is providing methodologies to study the environmental practices that belong to the foundation of the Mediterranean culture through a detailed survey and catalogue of contradas rural settlements.

Abstract
