In the design of civil structures, the mass reduction represents one of the fundamental optimization strategies, especially in seismic areas, where the sustained loads might increase the horizontal actions insisting on the vertical bearing components. Such philosophy can be easily extended to the structural design of prefabricated structures. In this context, the aim of this work is to understand the relation between the reduction of the floors masses and the decrease of the bending moments at the base of the vertical members, simultaneously estimating the advan-tages related to the connections between columns and foundations. At this purpose, several numer-ical analyses were carried out, iteratively changing the distance between columns, the number of stories and the type of floor and roof structures.
