Energy harvesting from dissipation processes is a challenging possibility for many different applications. In this context, the concept of GreenValve is born: a control valve able to harvest energy. GreenValve has been primarily designed to assure the regulation characteristics of a control valve and then to convert part of the energy, otherwise wasted, into mechanical energy that can be directly used or transformed. The present work presents the first experimental analysis of this device patented by the Politecmco di Milano University to evaluate the real potential of this innovative device.

Abstract

Energy harvesting from dissipation processes is a challenging possibility for many different applications. In this context, the concept of GreenValve is born: a control valve able to harvest energy. GreenValve has been primarily designed to assure the regulation characteristics of a control valve and then to convert part of the energy, otherwise wasted, into mechanical energy that can be directly used or transformed. The present work presents the first experimental analysis of this device patented by the Politecmco di Milano University to evaluate the real potential of this innovative device.
