Polymer-basedthin-film luminescentsolarconcentrators(LSCs)currentlyrelyonpoly(methyl-metha- crylate)(PMMA)ashostmatrixmaterial.However,PMMA-basedLSCsstillsufferfromdegradationdueto the limitedphotostabilityofthepolymer.Inthiswork,anewcrosslinked fluoropolymer-basedsystemis presentedasapotentialalternativehostmatrixmaterialforthefabricationofdurablepolymer-basedLSC devices. Thenewhostmatrixsystemisobtainedbycrosslinkingafunctionalchloro-trifluoro-ethylene- vinyl-ethercopolymerwithanaliphaticisocyanuratecrosslinker.Itisshownthatefficiency values comparable tothoseobtainedwithoptimizedPMMA-basedthin film LSCdevicescanbereachedwith the newcrosslinked fluoropolymer-basedLSCsystem.Inaddition,superiorlong-termoperational stability comparedtoPMMA-baseddevicescanbeobtainedwiththenew fluoropolymer-basedhost matrix, asevidencedbylong-termcontinuouslightexposuretests(over500h)onoperatingLSCdevices. The resultsofthisworkdemonstratethatcrosslinked fluorinated polymersrepresentaclassofpromising host matrixmaterialstoachieveenvironmentallystableLSCdevices.
