After the experiment of the reconstruction of the Shakespeare's Globe Theatre, another mythic architecture has been proposed for rebuilding in london, sponsored by a Chinese estate Company: the Joseph Paxton's Crystal Palace (in its second version of 1854, in Sydenham). it would result quite different from the projects presented to the previous competition of 1945 (in this context, the beautiful design by Giuseppe Samonà can be recalled). The reconstruction proposes a reinterpretation in the spirit of the great engineering of lightweight iron and glass structures. But does this reconstruction make really sense today? The debates is open.
