The study case regards the analysis, diagnostics and conservation of one among the few remaining chapels preserved in the western area of Milan. The study case shows the sustainability at many levels and according many keys. The step of the conservation plan that is ongoing at present regards listing the conservation activities after the restoration, and is a first action of sustainability of the complex process of protection and enhancement of the historical built heritage of the municipality. In this phase the economic sustainability has a main role for granting a successful result of the plan of inspection/early detection of damage/maintenance, as well as keeping the effects of the restoration by preventing any unconscious management and hazardous use of the building. Many stake holders are in charge for the protection of the chapel: the Municipality is the owner, a Cultural association has the task to manage the building for everyday and cultural activities in the small church. Moreover, the last restoration included the experimental application of products and technologies highly compatible to the materials and building techniques of the existing surfaces and the vulnerability of the buildings itself, much more compatible than the products applied in the previous restorations. The stress on compatibility required a change of restoration procedures and techniques on the interior surfaces: the activities of maintenance and prevention extended to the whole building and its surrounding environment provided the necessary mitigation of the risk factors to obtain a successful restoration with the innovative products, and monitoring/ gathering data for supporting the restoration itself.

Abstract
The stress on compatibility required a change of restoration procedures and techniques on the interior surfaces: the activities of maintenance and prevention extended to the whole building and its surrounding environment provided the necessary mitigation of the risk factors to obtain a successful restoration with the innovative products, and monitoring/ gathering data for supporting the restoration itself.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
