“La virtù congiunge […] il vizio separa”. La collaborazione tra Radice e Cattaneo

Dalla metà degli anni Trenta e l’inizio anni Quaranta Il giovane architetto razionalista Cesare Cattaneo e il pittore astrattista Mario Radice furono legati da particolari rapporti di amicizia e di affinità culturale che sfociarono in un'interessante collaborazione professionale. Il saggio tratta di tale rapporto utilizzando testimonianze e documenti inediti provenienti dall'Archivio Radice depositato al Mart di Rovereto e dall'Archivio privato Cesare Cattaneo di Cernobbio e getta luce sulle loro opere e progetti nonché sulle istanze di modernità presenti a Como tra i gruppi degli architetti razionalisti e dei pittori astrattisti. From the mid-thirties and the early forties the young rationalist architect Cesare Cattaneo and the abstract painter Mario Radice were bound by special ties of friendship and cultural affinity that resulted in an interesting professional collaboration. The essay focuses on this relationship using new testimonies and unpublished documents coming from the Archive Radice deposited at the Mart in Rovereto and from the private Archives Cesare Cattaneo in Cernobbio, thus shedding light on their works and projects as well as on the instances of modernity in the city of Como as represented by the groups of rationalist architects and abstract painters
