Capabilities of hydro-geological modelling to assess sediment movements in territorial systems are here demonstrated by a review of previous works by the authors. Sediment transport modelling enables, among others, sediment sources to be recognised, movements of sediment volumes to be predicted, areas of sediment accumulation to be individuated. Even though the sediment quality has never been considered by the authors, whose main perspective has been rather centred on how hydro-geological processes may affect natural hazard, a question is here raised: might pieces of information that can be obtained by such analyses be of interest for scholars involved in assessment of sediment pollution, related risk and remediation methods?
Can potentialities of hydro-geologic modelling be useful to environmental technologists?

Abstract
Capabilities of hydro-geological modelling to assess sediment movements in territorial systems are here demonstrated by a review of previous works by the authors. Sediment transport modelling enables, among others, sediment sources to be recognised, movements of sediment volumes to be predicted, areas of sediment accumulation to be individuated. Even though the sediment quality has never been considered by the authors, whose main perspective has been rather centred on how hydro-geological processes may affect natural hazard, a question is here raised: might pieces of information that can be obtained by such analyses be of interest for scholars involved in assessment of sediment pollution, related risk and remediation methods?File | Dimensione | Formato | |
