Abstract

This paper describe the design approach and the manufacturing techniques adopted in a pilot project for an innovative ultra-lightweight shelter covering the mosaics of a roman settlement in Sardinia. The shelter is based on the combination of a membrane structure supported by fiber reinforced polymer composites and investigates the wide range of potentialities offered by Composite Active Tensile Structures in the preservation of historical finds.
