The text explores the concept of public space in the light of the transformations undergone in the last twenty years. In particular, the concept is explored in its various forms ( physical, spatial, technical) going through the different meanings and different scales of intervention, against the backdrop of a city, like Barcelona, that had been lived for a long time as a significant 'model' in the transformation of open spaces in 'Europe at the end of the twentieth century. The last part of the text makes some assumptions about the strategies of urban transformation in the light of the various figures of public space: the crossing, the empty, the interval. Il testo esplora il concetto di spazio pubblico alla luce delle trasformazioni subite negli ultimi venti anni. In particolare, il concetto viene indagato nelle sue differenti declinazioni, fisiche, spaziali, tecniche, attraversandone i diversi significati e le diverse scale di intervento, sullo sfondo di una Barcellona vissuta per molto tempo quale ‘modello’ significativo nella trasformazione degli spazi aperti nell’Europa di fine XX secolo.
